23 Feb World Book Day
World Book Day
On Thursday 1st March, it is World Book Day. This is an event that takes place every year to celebrate our favourite authors and stories and the pleasure of reading. To make the day really special all the children may come to school on that day dressed as their favourite book character.
During the day, children will have stories shared with them, be able to talk about their favourite authors and books and also take part in lots of book related activities in the classroom. It should be a really great day so it would be lovely to see lots of children dressed as their favourite characters. Your child will also receive a £1 World Book Day token which can be exchanged for one of the special 2018 World Book Day books at any local participating book shop.
In the spirit of sharing stories please may you have a rummage behind your sofas for any accelerated reader books as our book supplies seem to be depleting! Any donations of books are always gratefully received.
For lots of ideas on how you can make story time fun, as well as advice on sharing stories with your child and how to encourage a lifelong love of reading, please visit www.worldbookday.com where you will also find some great ideas for make-at-home costumes under the ‘inspiration’ tab.
